Mammoth hunter

Article Abstract:

Research on mammoth extinctions during the Pleistocene period may help scientists determine the biological and environmental impacts of modern day extinctions. Analysis includes a wide variety of tools such as magnetic resonance imaging, CAT scans and examining bile acids from preserved mammoth droppings. Data obtained provides information on climate change, dietary change and breeding habits.

Research on the effects of mercury contamination on loons has prompted local and states governments to enact increasingly stringent policies targeting pollution. Mercury, a poisonous byproduct of coal-fired energy production and waste incineration, affects the central nervous systems and immune systems of the birds, providing warning signs of its potential threat to humans.
