Managing stories about quality

Article Abstract:

A case study of a Social Services Department in the northern part of England is used to study the flow of information between organizations and their clients. The study's objective is to come up with recommendations which would improve public access to services through the effective use of information. The practice of the Social Services Department to produce and distribute brochures was perceived as a part of an information system which included stories circulating in the community about service. The Department was recommended to implement new initiatives to improve its services.

Implementing quality improvement programs using the focusing steps of the theory of constraints

Article Abstract:

Consideration of the theory of constraints (TOC) helps in the effective implementation of quality improvement (QI) programs. TOC contains principles that seek to prioritize the application of QI efforts based on highest dollar impact on the system. It involves five steps, such as determination of a system's primary constraint and exploitation of an identified constraint, to effectively undertake improvement efforts.
