Marathon hearing gets under way

Article Abstract:

Testimony began in Imanishi-Kari's appeal of the Dept of Health and Human Service Office of Research Integrity finding that she falsified data for a 1986 article in Cell. The case is expected to include forensic evidence as well as testimony on her methodology and management practices.

Donna Shalala and the future of NIH

Article Abstract:

Shalala's priorities for HHS include increased funding for basic disease prevention research and cost-cutting reorganization of the NIH, but no increase in funding is likely soon. Shalala has not yet announced a replacement for NIH director Bernadine Healy.
