Measuring the metabolism of small organisms

Article Abstract:

The Warburg apparatus allows measurement of the respiration of small organisms such as insects. Respiration is calculated based on the decrease in air pressure in the airtight container inside the apparatus, the water temperature and the distance covered by the oil droplet inside a capillary tube.

A number of diver educational programs have been developed to promote reef and marine environmental awareness. These programs are aimed at helping recreational divers become research instruments, by collecting data for reef and marine scientists.
