Metal-carbon bonds in nature

Article Abstract:

Evidence exists for an organometallic intermediate, other than vitamin B12, that can make use of the transition-metal alkyl (M-CR3) species. The intermediate consists of a reactive Ni-CH3 fragment, which serves as a precursor to acetic acid through its reaction with Co and CoASH (acetyl-CoA synthase reaction 1).

A quick look at hydrogen bonds

Article Abstract:

Elsaesser and colleagues have observed coherent vibrational motion in the excited states that controls proton-transfer reactions, using an optical-pump probe with 20-femtosecond pulse timing. The experiment is described and background studies are discussed.
