Meteorology's most elusive target

Article Abstract:

Stormscale weather conditions continue to elude prediction by meteorologists despite the availability of sophisticated equipment. This is due to the difficulty in pinpointing potentially threatening conditions and the large number of factors involved in their formation. Newly developed instruments which could measure wind velocity and detect convection may be the answer to this problem. Studies of mesoscale convective currents and other meteorological phenomena hold promising results for the effective prediction of stormscale weather.
