Mitochondrial DNA in aging and disease

Article Abstract:

Abnormalities in the structure of mitochondrial DNA may lead to various physiological complications and even fatal disorders. Although majority of the defects associated with mitochondrial DNA are hereditary, some are acquired during the stages of embryonic development.

Pork progress

Article Abstract:

Research on pigs as organ donors indicates that porcine endogenous retrovirus does not cross the species barrier and infect humans. The discovery improves the possibility of successful xenotransplantation, but other hurdles remain.
