Mojave desert tortoises

Article Abstract:

The project aims to understand how environmental factors affect threatened tortoise populations to manage them proactively. Dr. Harold Avery, Dr. James Spotila, Dr. Justin Congdon and his project team will locate tortoise and collect data on each animal, including its identification number, measurements, estimated age, behavior, and location using a GPS unit.

The project aims to discover the intricacies of orca social behavior and ecology. Dr. Astrid van Ginneken and his project team will work on shore and patrolling in boats to look for orca pods and observe their behavior in and near Friday Harbor.
