Naturally grouped assembly work and new product structures
Article Abstract:
An analysis was conducted on the development of a more humanized and more efficient group working arrangements for assembly with new product structures. Some practical examples to illustratethe empiric support for the reasoning used are reported. Using the case of the Swedish vehicle assembly plant Volvo Car and Volvo Truck Corps, where long cycle assembly work has been adopted, the use of the generally applicable product structure that can be adopted to suit local conditions is advocated.

The sub-cultures within an airline are studied and observations made about corporate culture. Logic, the cost of quality and types of performance targets are shown to cause the variations in the cultures.

Article Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the appropriate improvement tools to use in a given situation. The tools were ranked according to their effectiveness. The results offer guidelines for management.
