New cleanup technologies battle credibility gap

Article Abstract:

A study conducted by the National Academy of Sciences' National Research Council proposes the new cleanup technologies to hel increase demand for remediation. The report states that new technologies could reduce the cost of cleaning up contaminated sites and increase their effectiveness. Remediation developers and consultants, however, dismiss the idea of developing new cleanup technologies.

Hydrolysis of an organophosphate ester by manganese dioxide

Article Abstract:

Research in Australia indicates that the bioavailability of an orthophosphate may be aided by abiotic pathways, as suggested by research indicating the hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl phosphate is aided by suspensions of amorphous manganese dioxide.
