Plastic energy dissipation model for lifetime prediction of zirconium and zircaloy-4 fatigued at RT and 400 degrees celsius

Article Abstract:

An experiment was conducted to investigate the low cycle fatigue properties of zirconium and zircaloy-4 which are used as fuel tubes in pressurized heavy water reactors. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy techniques were used to analyze the structure of zirconium and zircaloy-4. Results revealed that plastic dissipation energy was a fatigue damage variable and a power law between plastic dissipation energy and fatigue lifetime existed.

A thermodynamic framework for viscoplasticity based on overstress (VBO)

Article Abstract:

A thermodynamic framework for the theory of viscoplasticity based on overstress (VBO) is presented for the characterizations of the behaviors of polymers and their composites. The forms for the potential functions arising in the nonequilibrium treatment result in dissipationless contributions from internal variable growth law terms, which are linear in the rates of the controllable variables.

Optimizing the Ogden strain energy expression of rubber materials

Article Abstract:

The Ogden strain energy expression is expanded to an optimal number of terms characterizing materials to predict any response of any mode of deformation. The effect of each term generating the model is highlighted in the corresponding state of deformation.
