Plasticity in the thickness direction of paperboard under combined shear and normal loading

Article Abstract:

The elastic-plastic behavior in the thickness direction of paperboard was modeled assuming small-strain orthotropic linear elasticity and a quadratic yield function. The newly developed apparatus is applicable for studying the mechanical behavior in the thickness direction of paperboard and yield reliable and repeatable results.

Modeling the Influence of drying conditions on the stress buildup during drying of paperboard

Article Abstract:

A mathematical model of the drying process in the manufacturing of paperboard is presented. The model, which allows the moisture and temperature histories, the stress and strain histories, and the buildup of mechanical properties to be simulated, has shown to yield predictions qualitatively inline with empirical knowledge.

Constitutive modeling of metals based on the evolution of the strain-hardening rate

Article Abstract:

A simplified mechanical threshold stress model is used to determine the plastic behavior based on the evolution of strain-hardening rate. The proposed constitutive model accounts for the strain rate and provides adequate representation of material behavior.
