Policy makers ponder the future of aviation

Article Abstract:

The anticipated increase in demand for services, coupled with the need to accommodate an increasing diversity in the types and sizes of aircraft, has prompted an interagency group of federal policy makers to begin planning for the establishment of what it calls the 'next-generation air transportation system. The implementation of the first strategic plan is the job of the newly created Joint Planning and Development Office, which is coordinating the work of eight integrated product teams.

Mile high design

Article Abstract:

This article describes the design and construction of Denver's Mile High Stadium incorporating structural improvements and corrosion prevention measures. The horseshoe shaped baseball stadium uses hybrid steel treads and risers throughout the seating bowl with a system of steel " tusks" supporting the lighting truss.
