Polychlorinated biphenyls in nonaccumulating, century old sediments: sources, signatures, and mechanism of introduction

Article Abstract:

The following study recounts highly chlorinated polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) congeners in stream sediment deposited more than 100 years ago. Penta-to heptachlorinated congeners were found in Rice Creek, a rural tributary of Lake Ontario, at concentrations of up to 78.8 ng/g (dw).

Enhanced airborne polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) concentrations and chlorination downwind of Lake Ontario

Article Abstract:

Air samples are collected east of Lake Ontario at Potsdam, Rice Creek, Sterling, and Stockton, and measured for PCB concentrations. The results are graphed in comparison to sites in and around the Great Lakes that were measured during Integrated Atmospheric Deposition Network (IADN) sampling.

Are PCBs in the Canadian Arctic atmosphere declining? Evidence from 5 years of monitoring

Article Abstract:

Three techniques, including temperature normalization, multiple linear regression, and digital filtration, are used to determine the temporal trends of PCBs in Arctic atmosphere. A decline of some cogeners is observed.
