Sheetmetal working machinery industries are producing more flexible and productive equipments to satisfy different requirements of the users. LVD shape and Edwards Pearson have introduced patented adaptive preparing processes to ensure accurate forming of the workpiece. The machines are designed to handle a mixture of both low and high batch production. Computer numerical control technology is used in the metal cutting machine tools to make it more flexible and precise. Automatic adjustments on ram are made on CNC system during the process.

Compressor manufacturers are developing new products in response demand for dry, uncontaminated, compressed air in various industries. Altas Copco, for instance, has developed scroll compressors which use two scrolls located one inside the other to produce pulse-free compressed air. Reitschle has also developed new side channel compressors and vacuum pumps that offer 25% more efficiency and variable speed side channels for improved flexibility.

These include Dowty Seals which produces a range of 500 elastomeric compounds to enable it to offer customized linear and rotary seals. Nitrile rubber has been the traditional choice but the more expensive polymers such as thermoplastic polyurethane, polytetrafluorethylene and polyetheretherketone are gaining ground.
