Overtime pay

Article Abstract:

News staffers are traditionally classified as artistic professionals exempt from overtime pay eligibility, a policy reiterated by an appeals court decision. Although a lower court held a network news division staff could receive overtime, the appeals court ruled the staffers were exempt, in part due to their high salaries. Small market news staffers, however, might be eligible for overtime. Personnel earning less than $250 weekly are also eligible.
