Preferential sorption of planar contaminants in sediments from Lake Ketelmeer, the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

Article discussing research on preferential sorption of planar contaminants in sediments from Lake Ketelmeer in the Netherlands. The cosolvent method was used to determine PCBs and PAHs in an aged and recently deposited sediment layer.

Circumpolar trends of PCBs and organochlorine pesticides in the arctic marine environment inferred from levels in ringed seals

Article Abstract:

Researchers from Canada, Denmark, Norway and Japan studied the levels of PCBs, DDT-related compounds and other organochlorines in ringed seals and found that levels are higher in the Russian Arctic and east Greenland than in west Greenland or Canada.

Projected changes to the trophodynamics of PCBs in the Western Lake Erie ecosystem attributed to the presence of zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha)

Article Abstract:

Researchers from Canada used the bioaccumulation model of the food web to assess the potential effects of zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) on polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congener concentrations in western Lake Erie.
