Proposal for including what is valuable to ecosystems in environmental assessments

Article Abstract:

Assessment scientists and managers use social values to determine the goals, which are often identified by vested interests of stakeholders in a region, which will be utilized in guiding environmental assessments. The following study illustrates a procedure for recognizing and using social and ecosystem values for environmental assessments. A conceptual energy systems model illustrates how these processes may interact within a region.

New era for environmental safety assessment

Article Abstract:

The National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences created the National Center for Toxicogenomics to speed up the process of identifying toxins. Using advances in human genomic research, the Center will be able to save money and time when locating toxic substances. Identifying potential carcinogens will cost under $500 and take a few days, a significant drop from costing between $2 and $3 million over a duration of 2 to 3 years.

Intrinsic flaws of element enrichment factors (EFs) in environmental geochemistry

Article Abstract:

This study is used to evaluate the idea that enrichment factors can identify and measure human interference with global element cycles. The study is broken down into an introduction, a discussion of the experiment and its results. Various tables and graphs accompany the table.
