Proposed rule would define 'Environmental Professional'

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a definition of 'environmental professional' to encourage the redevelopment of brown-fields that is, properties contaminated or potentially contaminated by hazardous substances or other pollutants. Thus, president George W. Bush signed the Small Business Liability Relief and Revitalization for providing liability protection for prospective purchasers, for those owning contiguous property, and for innocent landowners

Omnibus bill offers mixed bag for infrastructure funding

Article Abstract:

P.L. 110-161, a $555-billion omnibus appropriations bill signed into law by President George W. Bush on 26 December 2007, provided funding for infrastructure projects. The highway program got $40.2 billion, the Federal Transit Administration got $9.358 billion, and the US Army Corps of Engineers received $5.6 billion.

Proposed ocean policies could affect civil engineers

Article Abstract:

A report advocating various changes in the way the United States oversaw the oceans and coastal regions within its borders contained a number of recommendations. The recommendations, if implemented, could have repercussions for civil engineers engaged in a variety of disciplines.
