Quaking a palace

Article Abstract:

Earthquake resistant designs are bing incorporated into the renovations of the the Legion of Honor Building in San Francisco, Ca. The designs include cosmetic features such as modern spaces and a three sides open expansion. These preserve the historic, neoclassical facade of the palace. The restoration and expansion has led to increased services to visitors, with a permanent collection exhibition, a temporary exhibition gallery, museum store, and a restaurant. The project was financed with public bonds, donations, and grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Here comes the sun

Article Abstract:

Research is going on in the field of alternative energy resources, such as wind, solar, biomass and hydrogen power. Wind-power is the cheapest renewable energy source and technological advances have made it a viable source of energy. Utilizing solar energy by the use of photovoltaic cells, energy from biofuels and hydrogen gas are other sources of energy. The costs of these alternatives is higher as compared to traditional energy sources, such as fossil fuels.
