Emissions from Nine Heavy Trucks Fueled by Diesel and Biodiesel Blend without Engine Modification

Article Abstract:

Biodiesel is a fuel made from vegetable oils or animal fats combined in a chemical reaction with methanol or ethanol. In this study biodiesel and diesel were compared for performance, fuel economy and emissions using unmodified engines. The fuel was 35% biodiesel and 65% petroleum diesel. Performance and fuel economy were the same, while emissions from biodiesel were quite different in particulate matter. Carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons were moderately reduced, but oxides of nitrogen were the same. The data strongly supports the use of this alternative fuel.

Statistical analysis of diesel fuel effects on particle number and mass emissions

Article Abstract:

In this study, the particle number concentration and particle matter emissions of an indirect injection diesel light duty vehicle were researched to find significant differences using eight nonoxygenate, one osygenate and the reference fuel. The study is broken down into an introduction, a discussion of the experiment and results. Various tables and graphs accompany the table.

Quantitative characterization of PAHs in burn residue and soot samples and differehtiation of pyrogenic PAHs from petrogenic PAHs: the 1994 mobile burn study

Article Abstract:

Mobile Bay, AL was the site of several mesoscale burns in 1994, to study the various aspects of diesel fuel burning in situ. The target PAHs in the diesel, residue and soot samples gathered during each burn were quantitatively characterized by CG/MS.
