Article Abstract:

The project aims to track the habits of seed-dispersing animals to predict the ecological impact of forest fragmentation. Drs. David Westcott, Andrew Dennis used rediotelemetry to monitor the movements of tagged, fruit-eating birds and mammals and observe their foraging and fruit-processing behavior both in the field and in captive settings.

The project aims to test the effectiveness of a new forestry method that could provide local income while conserving the rainforest. Sally Silverstone, Dr Mark Nelson and his project team will determine which planting sites are working best, how the trees are growing, and what their impact is on surrounding forest.
