Researchers calculate slip rate for Mississippi Valley fault

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the slip rate, or fault movement, of the Reelfoot Lake blind-thrust fault in the Mississippi Valley. Topics addressed include the geological factors affecting earthquake magnitude and destruction levels in the New Madrid seismic zone, and the US Geological Survey's earthquake forecasts for the area.

Program will store geological data

The United States Geological Survey has launched a new research program for storing geological data which will include maps, well logs and samples etc. Detail of this program was submitted to American Congress recently.
