Richmond revitalizes canals

Article Abstract:

Government officials of Richmond, VA, are obliged by the Environmental Protection Agency to repair the sewer systems in their region to avoid overflows during storms. In line with the repair of sewer system, the officials have the opportunity to restore the Kanawha and Haxtall canal systems as well. These 200 year-old canals are landmarks since they were part of a larger waterway system project in an attempt to connect the Atlantic Ocean to the Ohio River Valley. The repair of the sewer systems were aimed at solving the overflowing problem and, in turn, restoring historical infrastructures in Richmond.
