Road improvement strategies tested on mountainous route

Article Abstract:

The completion of a 1km long segment of the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway with a $640-million undertaking to improve and widen 100 km of the highway, which extends from the coast into the mountains of southwest British Columbia, is discussed. The highway improvements should be completed by the end of 2009 as Vancouver is expected to host the 2010 Winter Olympics and the skiing events that would take place in Whistler.

Toronto takes off

Article Abstract:

A new, state-of-art terminal at the Toronto's Pearson International Airport, the centerpiece of a 10-year airport's redevelopment project is completed. The contractors have erected the building using a top-down construction method that has extensive implications for the engineering design and the terminal's frontage roads features an innovative large-scale application of cast-in-place high-performance concrete.

Airports: Sea-Tac terminal opens despite turbulence

Article Abstract:

The first new terminal facility in 30 years was completed with the design of the South Terminal Expansion Project, a recently completed addition to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac). The changes included improved baggage system and a transit tunnel in view of security rules.
