The implications of the soft systems approach in the development of research and development stragegies is to provide the necessary focus on the product, the research direction, the production and on the planners. An application of the soft systems approach on the research directions for an electronics manufacturing firm enabled better product differentiation, identification of gaps in research for product development, the gaps in manufacturing technologies and process and better relationship among planning groups.
