Siberia: surprising home for Early Modern humans

Article Abstract:

Accelerator radiocarbon dating of bone samples indicates that two Siberian archeological sites date to 40,000 years age, indicating that the sites are 10,000 years older that previously believed. The finding creates the possibility that the first American landing was also earlier than previously believed.

Catching lizards in the act of adapting

Article Abstract:

Evolutionary biologist Jonathan Losos transplanted anolis lizards from a wooded Caribbean island to islands with bushy vegetation, in 1977. After 20 years, the lizards adapted by growing shorter limbs. Evidence does not as yet support either natural selection or simple developmental adaptation.
