Article Abstract:

Seven years after the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill the Prince William Sound is still recovering. Hampering the process is a tendency to treat the each element of the damage singularly, instead of as integral parts of wounded ecosystem. Similar misperceptions of future spills are likely.

Sound science: researchers still sparring over effects of Exxon Valdez

Article Abstract:

Many scientists believe that the studies on the environmental effects of the 1989 'Exxon Valdez' oil spill are not accurate. Attorneys were allowed to influence the selection of studies, data may not have been relevant and government trustees and Exxon would not release information.

Exxon Valdez tanker spilled oil in Prince William Sound, Alaska in 1989. Ten years after this incident, the spilled oil, particularly the hydrocarbons, still slows down the growth of the area's ecosystem.
