Structural analysis of continuous contracts in technological trade using numerical simulation

Article Abstract:

A new procedure for approximating the annual contribution of continuous contracts to a country's technological trade is introduced. The method, which has been validated through data simulations, reveals several significant changes in Japanese technological trade during the 1980s and early 1990s. An example is the rapid decline of technology export contracts with respect to technology import contracts.
