Supreme Court rules on water transfers

Article Abstract:

A case, concerning South Florida Water Management District and Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, that was brought in the U.S. Supreme Court regarding water transfers is presented. The issue was whether a water district that transfers water to avoid flooding or to redistribute supplies be regulated as a polluter under the Clean Water Act.

Water utilities renew opposition to MTBE 'Safe Harbor' provisions

Article Abstract:

A number of water districts in California filed suit against the manufacturers of gasoline containing methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), faced with the mounting expense of MTBE-related clean-ups. Water utilities maintain that the safe harbor language would impair their ability to respond to a staggeringly expensive effort.
