Technical effort as a competitive weapon: experiences of Australian firms

Article Abstract:

An effort to integrate the three key technical management subsystems, namely, strategic, capabilities and organizational, are a common feature of three leading-edge Australian firms. Several practices and characteristics of these firms reflect this perspective. These include equal importance of processes of implementation of technical function management and content of technology strategies in promoting performance, a focus on crucial core processes which underlie their ability to create value and competitiveness and a thrust toward continuous improvement and performance in their technical functions and in their line processes.
