Article Abstract:

Effective technology maintenance strategies would lead to better use of capital investments in producing quality products. This calls for the effective use of calibration and a risk-based approach to maintenance. Regular calibration of equipment is important for the accurate measurement of performance. This would facilitate maintenance procedures which is of three forms. One is preventive or scheduled maintenance, another is predictive maintenance and the last is corrective maintenance.

Some new equipment being tested for evidence collection in crime scenes include the secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) gun, a dry sampling wipe that detects blast residues and an improved blue light special that allows fluorescing body fluids to be viewed even in strong light conditions.
