The Martian environment

Mars is a harsh, flat, surface with widely variable weather conditions, chiefly dust storms that will challenge every piece of gear, and may disrupt solar collection so badly that a nuclear reactor needs to be flown in on the cargo lander.

NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) is planning to land a Mini Cooper, a rover of about the same size and weight, on Mars in 2010. A brief description about how it would work and of what it would be made are described, which includes totally new methods that are never used before.
