Article Abstract:
Advertising and publicity by chartered accountants is a controversial issue in the United Kingdom. Some advertising is descriptive and genuinely informative to the consumer. However, some advertising is persuasive and aggressive. This type of advertising should not be allowed in the service industries, particularly by professional accountants. Option One which retains status quo but defines it by specific rules of conduct rather than guidelines is the most acceptable choice. It allows advertising of the descriptive sort without leaning toward the vulgar.

The art of Renaissance engineering

New York City's Liberty Gallery will hold the 'Mechanical Marvels: Invention in the Age of Leonardo' exhibit up to Mar 1, 1998. The exhibit features the works of Italian Renaissance artist-engineers Leonardo da Vinci, Mariano di Iacopo, Filippo Brunelleschi and Francesco de Giorgio. Among the machinery displayed are the revolving crane, trebuchet, mud extractor and spring motor made using the artist-engineers' designs.
