The assimilation of computer and microelectronics technology in developing countries: the case of Latin America

Article Abstract:

Latin America has developed a management system for incorporating technology into their businesses, but mostly on the supply side, using computers and telecommunications for shipping and manufacturing. Managers are just now beginning to plan for the effect technology can have on the demand side of industry, forcing suppliers to react to market demands in ever more complex yet receptive ways. As smaller companies become computerized, Latin American countries will have to put more energy into training citizens to be users in order to create more jobs.
