The butterfly effect

Article Abstract:

Environmentalists are hoping that politicians would takes steps after it has been discovered that pollen from genetically-engineered corn produces a natural pesticide that can kill monarch butterfly caterpillars. It remains to be seen if the issue would galvanize American public opinion and lead to regulatory action.

Joel Schwartz is an epidemiologist who has made significant contributions to the formulation of US environmental policies. Schwartz employs innovative statistical methods, such as time series analysis, in order to assess the effect of combustion particles to man's health.
