The effects of patch properties on the debonding behavior of patched beam-plates

Article Abstract:

Research evaluates a carbon-reinforced epoxy and an aluminum patch for their debonding characteristics in terms of the lay-up sequence and edge-tapering, which influence initiation, stability, and degree of debonding per se. Data indicate that edge-tapering and patch properties are important in optimizing the patched structure.

Mechanical properties of Kevlar KM2 single fiber

Article Abstract:

Stress-strain behavior obtained from experiments on a single Kevlar KM2 fiber is presented. Results show that the mechanical behaviors of the Kevlar KM2 fibers are insensitive to the loading rates in the range covered.

A mechanistic approach to matrix cracking coupled with fiber-matrix debonding in short-fiber composites

Article Abstract:

A micro-macro mechanistic approach to damage in short-fiber composites is developed. The microscopic response is determined using a continuum damage mechanics approach and finite element analysis.
