The episodic process of learning by using

Article Abstract:

An effective method of learning by using with new process technologies is for users to alternate between brief episodes of intensive adaptive activity and longer periods of routine use. Such an episodic pattern of adaptation was observed across three different organizations applying distinctly different technologies for producing goods and services. Its benefits include stable production routines for users as well as periods for reexamining and modifying those routines and undivided attention to adaptive activity without distractions or interruptions from ongoing production processes.
