The molecular logic of smell

Article Abstract:

Extensive genetic research has resulted in the isolation of the genes that underly the functionality of the human olfactory system. Roughly 1,000 different odor receptor genes have been identified. It is possible that every individual olfactory neuron is linked to a single receptor gene.
