The nuclear legacy

Article Abstract:

Nuclear technology has provided cheap and clean energy for the past 50 years. Its negative impact, however, has been nuclear waste which is difficult to dispose. A discussion of some of the efforts being done to address the problems of nuclear waste disposal is presented.

Plans by NASA to intercept a comet are examined in detail. A spacecraft is set to be launched in Jan 2004. It will blast open the comet Tempel 1 to enable analysis of its interior structure.
