The secret ship; an experiment in seagoing stealth glides out of the black

Article Abstract:

The 'Sea Shadow,' is a US Navy test ship that makes maximum use of stealth technology. The design of the ship resulted in a quietness to help avoid sonar detectors, a minimum of wake in the water and a low radar visibility. Ship construction is discussed.

Acoustic thermometry of ocean climate (ATOC) technology was originally developed as a means to detect Soviet submarines. Some scientists have proposed using ATOC to measure global warming.
