Close cooperation between Ford and GE Plastics resulted in the introduction of the thin wall bumper in the Ford Mondeo. GE Plastics' XENOY thermoplastic alloy was chosen based on specifications on processing, impact, chemical resistance, paint adhesion, cosmetics and weatherability. Aside from reducing costs by eliminating primer paint and cutting off 20% in material usage, cycle times were also minimized.

The emergency brake enhancing product was designed to allow emergency braking and offers added boost to ensure proper functioning of a car's anti-lock brake system. The product secured the Technology Award in the Prince Michael Road Safety Awards in Oct 1996 due to its higher potential to save many accidents.
