Tolerance to sudden organic solvent shocks by soil bacteria and characterization of Pseudomonas putida strains isolated from toluene polluted sites

Article Abstract:

Researchers studied soil samples taken from two toluene contaminated sites in Granada, Spain and isolated affected strains of Pseudomonas putida to find out how the bacterium reacted to the presence of toluene.

Abiotic transformation of perchloroethylene in homogeneous dithionite solution and in suspensions of dithionite-treated clay minerals

Article Abstract:

It has been proven that oxidized organic pollutant reduction may occur by purely abiotic chemical reactions. The following experiment examined the reductive dechlorination of perchloroethylene in homogenous solutions of dithionite and at the surfaces of Na-montomorillonite and dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate treated ferruginous smectite.
