Vibrational and electronic spectra of neutral and ionic combustion reaction intermediates trapped in rare-gas matrixes

Article Abstract:

Isolating small concentration of HI and O2 in an argon matrix and demonstrating the production of HO2 on subsequent mercury-arc irradiation are tested. The study concluded that the ground-state structures, chemical bonding properties, and vibrational energy levels of small polyatonic free radicals and molecular ions may differ considerably from those of related stable molecules or from results of ab initio calculations that do not adequately treat electron correlation.

Unraveling the structure and Mechanism of acetyl-coenzyme a synthase

Article Abstract:

The carbon monoxide is a combination with a methyl group and ultimately converted to acetyl-CoA at a unique Ni-containing bimetallic site in the A-cluster of the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway of carbon fixation enzyme. The mechanism by which acetyl-CoA is synthesized is still unknown and hence requires synergetic cooperation of biochemists, spectroscopists for unraveling the mystery.

Role of proton-coupled electron transfer in O-O bond activation

Article Abstract:

A study of the role of proton-coupled electron transfer in O-O bond activation is described. It is suggested that the proper control of proton-coupled electron transfer events is necessary for high efficiency in O-O bond breaking of oxygen and more generally oxygenated substrates.
