Virginia begins sorting out mixing bowl interchange

Article Abstract:

Fourteen lanes which are being subjected to an overwhelming flow of traffic will be transformed into a 24-lane web of divided flyways and ramps. The lanes in question constitute an interchange called the mixing bowl and have created the most dangerous intersection on Washington, DC's Capital Beltway. They are located roughly 15 miles south of Washington, DC, where the Capital Beltway, also called Interstate 495, intersects three other major thoroughfares.
