Viscosity as an experimental tool in studying the mechanism of stereoselective and product-selective chemical transformations through frictional impositions

Article Abstract:

The article examines viscosity dependence as a function of temperature, pressure and solvent polarity for the double inversion in the photolytic azoalkane denitrogenation, the thermal isomerization of housanes, and stereochemical memory versus Curtin-Hammett behavior in radical-cation rearrangements. Simple free-volume model demonstrates the utility of frictional effects for the elucidation of complex reaction mechanisms in molecular transformation.

Stereoselective synthesis of polypropionate units and heterocyclic compounds by cyclopropylcarbinol ring-opening with mercury(II) salts

Article Abstract:

The application of cyclopropylcarbinol ring-opening for the preparation of fictionalized oxygen heterocycles in natural product synthesis is outlined. Useful strategy for the stereoselective elaboration of the acyclic structures bearing several contiguous stereocenters, as well as heterocycles is provided by the regioselective electrophilic ring-opening of the cyclopropylcarbinol derivatives.

Strategies for heterocyclic construction via novel multicomponent reactions based on isocyanides and nucleophilic carbenes

Article Abstract:

Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) involving zwitterionic species generated by the addition of isocyanides and nucleophilic carbenes to activate alkynes are investigated. The strategy employs the interception of 1:1 zwiterrionic species, generated in situ with a wide range of electrophiles.
