The Human Genome Project is progressing more rapidly than expected in mapping out human genes, which could reveal genetic susceptibilities to many diseases. But the future could be fraught with ethical debate over the use of genome science, its commercialization and possible abuses.

Dennett's dangerous idea

Tufts University philosopher Dennett believes that a 'virtual machine' in the brain produces consciousness and that consciousness is based primarily on illusion. He derived his theory of consciousness from the theory on intentional stance, or conscious experience.
