Why can't a computer be more like a brain?

Article Abstract:

Neuromorphic engineers are attempting to capture the animal capacity for sense in computer intelligence. In an effort to mimic some of the diversity of neuronal function, scientists are turning to analog computing which relies upon hardware rather than algorithms to solve computational problems.

Interferometer maps cosmic microwaves on the cheap

Article Abstract:

Researchers have demonstrated that the Cosmic Anisotropy Telescope is capable of capturing images of the cosmic microwave background that is 60 times as sharp as the images captured by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Cosmic Background Explorer satellite.

Persistence pays off in defining history of diffusion

Article Abstract:

Two teams of researchers have discovered a new exponent in the diffusion equation that provides information about how the process of diffusion progresses. The discovery presents a method of tracking the fluctuations in the concentration of diffusing particles.
