How to survive an audit

Article Abstract:

The IRS has begun to crack down on violations regarding employee tax-deferred retirement plans. In cases where negligence has been discovered, the IRS has resorted to large fines and to filing lawsuits against those responsible. Pension managers, however, can avoid the hassles involved in IRS audits by ensuring that documents are in order. Specifically, they should keep files on employees who chose not to participate in pension plans, plan participants who have been terminate, and on the plan's minority distribution.
