Association of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, body composition, and physical fitness in independent community-dwelling older men and women

Article Abstract:

Blood levels of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) in older men vary depending on physical and biological characteristics but the same is not true in older women. Researchers correlated DHEAS levels in a group of men and women 60 years and older with several characteristics. Men with the highest DHEAS levels tended to be younger, leaner, more fit and had higher testosterone levels. These differences were not seen in the women.

The association of weight change in Alzheimer's disease with severity of disease and mortality: a longitudinal analysis

Article Abstract:

Research shows that weight loss can be used as a mortality predictor among Alzheimer's disease patients. A direct correlation was found to exist between the degree of weight change and disease stage change, with weight loss increasing as the disease progresses. Weight gain, however, was discovered to have a beneficial, protective effect.
